Brussels Airport struggles

28-Jan-2010

BRUSSELS Airport handled 450,000 tonnes of cargo in 2009: a drop by 32.1 per cent from 2008’s 661,000 tonnes.

The airport blamed DHL’s relocation to Leipzig for integrator cargo volumes, which suffered badly from the move, and the demise of Cargo B and the decline of imports and exports in general for the all-cargo traffic decline.

Even cargo carried on passenger aircraft showed negative growth despite 38,500 tonnes being handled in December, a growth of 46 per cent.
