Another B737-400SF conversion for Southern Air

CONVERSIONS company Aeronautical Engineers Inc (AEI) has delivered the third of five B737-400SF freighters to Southern Air which operates them for DHL Express in the Americas, writes Nigel Tomkins, managing director.
The latest aircraft is a standard gross weight B737-400SF built in 1993 and converted at Commercial Jet’s Dothan facility, one of five authorised AEI conversion centres worldwide.
The -400SF is the only passenger-to-freighter conversion that offers operators 10 full-height 88” x 125” container positions, because of a relocated cargo door.
The additional position increases the aircraft’s volumetric capability by 10 per cent, placing it in a class by itself, says an AEI statement.
It is the 13th of an anticipated 30-plus freighters to be delivered by AEI in 2014.
