Cargolux switches flower flights to Schiphol

Cargolux Airlines has switched its flower flights from South America from Maastricht Airport to Amsterdam Schiphol.
The all-cargo carrier said the move would enhance service levels for the flights, 90% of whose traffic is destined for the Netherlands.
Flying directly to Amsterdam reduces transit times to the nearby Aalsmeer flower auctions – the world’s largest – compared with trucking from Maastricht in the south of the country. Schiphol also gives more flexibility for return export cargoes, the carrier adds.
Cargolux is a major carrier in the South American perishables trade. It operates regular scheduled flights from Bogota and recently added Latacunga in Ecuador to its schedule.
Its CV Fresh product offers tailor-made solutions for flower shippers in South America on its three weekly services, flying around 95 tonnes per week from South America.
