Hurricane Irma relief effort continues as another storm hits the Caribbean

CargoLogicAir has flown two relief flights to the French territory of Guadeloupe following the devastating impact of Hurricane Irma, while a new storm hits the Caribbean.
The two flights carried out by the Stansted-based airline were on behalf of the French Government and carried nearly 200 tonnes of humanitarian goods.
The first flight on September 13 took off from Vatry to Pointe-à-Pitre Le Raizet Airport, Guadeloupe, and was followed shortly afterwards by the second flight on September 16.
The first flight took off less than 48 hours after the initial enquiry.
CargoLogicAir chief executive Dmitry Grishin said: “We may still be a relatively new name in the world of aviation but our highly experienced team of air logistics professionals have many years’ expertise in the airline industry, including providing a fast response to such situations where humanitarian relief is urgently needed. We anticipate operating several more flights in the coming days.”
Meanwhile, Caribbean islands now face the threat of category four Hurricane Maria. The storm has already devastated the island of Dominica and now looks set to follow a similar path to Irma, heading towards the Virgin Islands and the pharma hub of Puerto Rico.
Airlines, including Delta, American and United, have placed embargoes on cargo carried to certain islands in the region, including Puerto Rico.
