China Southern Airlines’ first B777-300ER

CHINA Southern Airlines has taken delivery of its first passenger B777-300ER.
The new aircraft is the first of 10 -300ERs the Asian carrier has on order from Boeing.
Zhang Zifang, chief operating officer of China Southern, enthuses: "The B777-300ER’s long-haul capability is a perfect fit for our network expansion plans as it will enable us to serve our existing long-range markets more efficiently and open new routes in the future.”
The -300ER will support the development of Guangzhou as the carrier’s main international hub. “It will be a vital part of our ‘Canton Route’ services," he adds.
The airline plans to operate it on the North American market.
China Southern was the first carrier in Asia to operate the B777 in 1995 and the first to operate B777s on non-stop routes across the Pacific Ocean, connecting Guangzhou and Los Angeles.
It was also first Chinese carrier to take direct delivery of the B757-200, the B777-200, the B777-200ER, the B777 freighter and the B747-400 freighter.
