Delta Cargo expands Pharma 4 programme

Delta Cargo has added eight more destinations to its Pharma 4 network, taking the airline’s total pharma stations to 49 (plus nine European facilities that it operates with its partners).
Bogota, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Sydney, Sao Paulo, Frankfurt and Seoul have all joined the temperature-sensitive programme – one of four that Atlanta-headquartered Delta offers.
Pharma 4 is aimed at products that need to be shipped at room temperature (+15◦C  to +25◦C), such as prescription drugs and some biotechnology products, the carrier said.
Pharma 1 takes care of products requiring an environment above +5◦C; Pharma 2 covers the +2◦C  to +8◦C range; and Pharma 3 covers shipments that are sensitive to extreme temperatures but do not require the strict temperature control of Delta’s other pharma solutions.
In other pharma-related news from Delta, its ground handling partner in Hong Kong has now attained GDP certification for its facility there, as well as holding CEIV accreditation from IATA.
Delta added CEIV-approved facilities (operated in conjunction with ground handling and joint venture partners) at Dusseldorf Airport to its network last year. The carrier also launched a new Pharma Zone at London’s Heathrow Airport in 2017, in partnership with Virgin Atlantic Cargo.
