More speakers added to the Farnborough Airshow cargo conference

The Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) 2018 has added more speakers to its two-day conference to be hosted within the cargo village at the event.
According to the latest update, Turkish Cargo chief cargo officer Turhan Ozen will join a panel discussion on express and e-commerce growth; Qatar Airways vice president cargo Europe Rob Veltman will be on the future of air cargo panel; Astral Aviation founder and chief executive Sanjeev Gadhia will present on the potential impact of drones in Africa and former IATA head of cargo Des Vertannes will act as chairman on day two.
The full conference line up and timings can be found here.
The 1,000 sq m Cargo Village will serve as an important hub for anyone connected with the industry.
Sponsored by Volga Dnepr and CargoLogicAir, it brings together exhibitors, including airports, charter brokers, logistics specialists and security services under one roof, with a static display that provides a rare opportunity for visitors to get close to giant freighter aircraft.
Robert van de Weg, vice president for sales and marketing at Volga-Dnepr Group, said: “We were proud to pioneer the first-ever Cargo Village at Farnborough two years ago to showcase the important role air cargo plays in aerospace supply chains and those of so many other industries.
“FIA 2018 will take this to a new dimension with the addition of a two-day Cargo Conference which, among a variety of other topics, will look at some of the developing methods of cargo deliveries, the importance of cargo to the UK economy, and overcoming the challenges of moving special cargoes for market segments such as healthcare, aerospace and humanitarian logistics.
“We also look forward to welcoming visitors onto one of our An-124-100 freighters, which will be on static display at the airshow, and to see various cargo loading demonstrations.”
One of CargoLogicAir’s Boeing 747 freighters will also be on display in the Cargo Village for visitors to tour on 16, 17 and 18 July.
David Kerr, the British all-cargo airline’s chief executive, said: “Farnborough International Airshow is one of the world’s premier aviation and aerospace industry events with more than 1500 exhibitors from 52 countries, including representatives of the UK’s thriving aerospace community.
“This provides us with a unique opportunity to reach a large audience of existing and potential customers, and to remind those businesses of the speed and flexibility we can offer to support and connect their global product sales and manufacturing operations.
“It is important that air cargo has a strong voice at this event, which is why we making this significant commitment. With the growth of the Cargo Village this year, we hope to see a big increase in cargo industry visitors.”
