Norwegian looks back – and forward

Norwegian’s third-quarter 2017 results saw revenue reached NKr10bn, up from NKr8.3bn in the same quarter of last year.
Within that total, the ‘other revenue’ figure of NKr313m derived from freight carriage, commissions, third-party products and external aircraft leases.
Norwegian made a net result of NKr1bn, an improvement of 4% compared to the same quarter of 2016.
The July to September period for the low-cost carrier was characterised, it said in a statement accompanying the financial results, by “fleet growth and renewal”.
A total of 10 new aircraft also entered the fleet during the quarter: four Boeing 737 MAX, one B737-800 and five B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
Norwegian launched 14 new intercontinental routes during the 1 July to 30 September period, including Singapore, Denver and Seattle as new destinations.
Another highlight included the company’s British subsidiary, Norwegian Air UK, receiving a US Foreign Air Carrier Permit.
It has been confirmed that Norwegian Air Argentina was granted concessions to operate 153 routes from Argentina by the Argentine National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC). The concessions relate to an application for a total of 156 routes.
The Norwegian Group established an Argentinian subsidiary in January 2017. Norwegian plans to have a considerable operation in Argentina that includes both domestic and international flights.
