Sixth B777F for Qatar Airways Cargo

QATAR Airways Cargo has taken delivery of its sixth B777 freighter.
“It’s a proud moment for Qatar Airways Cargo,” says Akbar Al Baker, the airline’s chief executive.
“It’s the right time to introduce an additional B777 freighter to our fleet. The State of Qatar is growing at a phenomenal pace, as are other parts of the Gulf region, and we are primed to take advantage of this growth,” he adds.
The airline recognises the need to continuously expand capacity and the number of destinations served.
“Our customers can rely on our extensive network of more than 40 exclusive freighter destinations worldwide, in addition to the freight delivered on our 134 passenger aircraft to 142 key business and leisure destinations globally,” echoes Ulrich Ogiermann, chief cargo officer.
“The B777F has consistently delivered the highest levels of reliability and efficiency since it entered service in 2009, making it the long-range freighter of choice for a number of airlines and cargo operators around the world,” says Boeing’s Marty Bentrott, senior vice-president for sales, in the Middle East, Russia and Central Asia.
“We are confident that the B777 freighter’s high capacity and range, combined with the lowest trip-cost of any large freighter, will add a tremendous amount of value to Qatar Airways’ expanding air cargo operations.”
The latest Qatar Airways Cargo B777 freighter has a payload of up to 102 tonnes and is capable of flying 4,900 nautical miles with a full payload, making it the world’s longest-range twin-engine freighter.
It accommodates 27 standard pallets (2.5m x 3m) on the main deck, whilst the lower cargo hold has capacity for 10 pallets, as well as 17 cubic metres of additional bulk cargo.
Recently, new freighter destinations of Zaragoza, Hyderabad, London Stansted and Delhi were added to the network and the new cargo route to Mexico, effective 11 June 2014, marked the start of freighter operations into Latin America.
