FedEx launches FedEx Fulfillment offering

Third-party logistics services provider (3PL) FedEx Supply Chain, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp, has launched FedEx Fulfillment, an e-commerce solution for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
FedEx said the system would allow SMEs to fulfil orders from channels such as websites and online marketplaces and manage inventory for their retail stores.
The solution is described by the integrator as “an integrated supply chain offering powered by an easy-to-use platform and the FedEx transportation networks”.
FedEx Fulfillment is intended to allow SMEs achieve profitable, scalable growth through warehousing, fulfilment, packaging, transportation and reverse logistics.
The service is, the integrator confirms, backed by a platform that integrates selling channels and manages inventory.
“FedEx Fulfillment is the latest in a series of offerings designed to help our customers succeed as e-commerce continues to grow,” informed Carl Asmus, senior vice president, e-commerce, FedEx Express.
“Moving goods efficiently and reliably is what we do best. By teaming up with FedEx Supply Chain and utilising the world-renowned FedEx networks, customers can focus less on fulfillment and logistics challenges and more on growing their businesses.”
FedEx Fulfillment customers have the ability to market to countries around the world with the integration of FedEx Cross Border, thereby being able to ascertain total landed cost calculations and the ability to accept local currencies.

More generally: “We also evaluate each business’s needs and determine how we can use the reach of the global FedEx transportation network to cast a wide net of shoppers from around the world,” a FedEx spokesperson told Air Cargo News.
The final frontier
In other news from the integrator, earlier this month (February) Space Florida confirmed that it had named FedEx as its preferred provider of logistics, transportation and cargo-related services.
Space Florida maintains and operates the launch and landing strip at the Shuttle Landing Facility at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), Florida.
FedEx initially helped Space Florida in May 2015 when a FedEx Express Boeing 757 was the first commercial aircraft to land on the Shuttle Landing Facility runway.
With the commercial space industry growing at such a rapid rate, FedEx developed FedEx Space Solutions, which it says provides customers with “round-the-clock access to a team of experts dedicated solely to serving the needs of the global space marketplace”.
