Growth across the board at DHL

Deutsche Post DHL Group increased revenue significantly in the first quarter of 2017 and further improved its operating profit, said the mail and logistics company. Group revenue climbed by more than €1 billion to €14.9 billion.
German and international parcel and eCommerce and the global express business all saw substantial growth in volume and revenue, it said.
Group earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) were €885 million, surpassing the prior year – which was in itself a good result, said DHL.
Chief executive Frank Appel, said: “Our strategy is working, and we are confident that we will achieve our targets for 2017.”
The Group is also marking the half-way point fo its Strategy 2020, launched in 2014. The company has successfully expanded its Parcel business into international markets, and has also introduced new solutions in its Express business to tap into booming online commerce. The Global Forwarding, Freight and Supply Chain divisions have been streamlined and positioned for sustainable growth, said DHL.
The Group expects the global economy to grow moderately in 2017 but, after a good first quarter, the Group still forecasts that it will increase EBIT to around €3.75 billion. It expects to increase operating profit by an average of more than 8% annually (from 2013 to 2020.
The Group made further progress in extending its domestic and international parcel infrastructure as well as expanding global and regional hubs in the Express division and modernizing and expanding the aircraft fleet.
