Aviation leaders talk about global humanitarian aid

Chief executives from major airlines and other partners have discussed the roles which the aviation sector can fulfill in delivering humanitarian aid. 
The interviews were conducted by Airlink, a non-profit organisation that links more than 35 commercial and charter airlines with humanitarian aid groups to fill cargo holds with aid goods and to send first responders to disasters. 
The interviews took place during the 2016 IATA Annual General Meeting and Conference held in Dublin.
Those interviewed include Barry Humphreys, former director of Virgin Atlantic, Airlink Advisory Council member, Steve Smith, executive director of Airlink and Peter Harbison of CAPA Aviation.
Humanitarian aid groups at the IATA agm have called on airlines to take advantage of positional flights for newly ordered aircraft to carry life-saving cargo to those in need.
The appeal came from the Airbus Foundation, the International Foundation for the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Airlink, which are attending the IATA annual general meeting in Dublin this week.
