Lufthansa Cargo says it with roses

LUFTHANSA Cargo flew 1,000 tonnes of long-stem roses from cut-flower producing nations Kenya, Colombia and Ecuador to Germany, so millions of lovers could celebrate Valentine’s Day.
The German airline carried 90 tonnes of roses on each special flight it operated in addition to scheduled connections, to meet the exceptionally high demand.
Lufthansa Cargo’s Fresh/td product was developed specifically for the transportation of perishable goods, such as flowers and food.
Following harvesting, the flowers are taken as fast as possible from the plantation for packaging before being loaded onto to the aircraft, which have special refrigeration systems in their cargo holds. This ensures they retain all their splendour on arrival at Frankfurt Airport, a statement says.
