Celebi acquires Aviapartner in Germany

ÇELEBI, a Turkish ground-handling, cargo and warehouse operator, has made a major advance into the German air cargo business with the purchase of Aviapartner Cargo GmbH.
The €4.6 million acquisition is part of its strategy to expand in the international arena, says the Istanbul-based company.
Aviapartner Cargo is currently active at Frankfurt and Hahn international airports, where it has direct access to the cargo apron.
Procedures for closing the contract and completion of the transfer of shares are expected by March 2014 at the latest.
Aviapartner handles some125,000 tonnes of cargo in Germany, and posted a €12.6 million turnover last year.
“With this purchase, Çelebi Cargo aims to expand its market share at Frankfurt, becoming one of the biggest players in the region,” the statement adds.
Çelebi will have control of up to 35,000-sq m of covered warehousing at Frankfurt and Hahn airports.
Some 400 people are currently employed in these two facilities.
