Hong Kong stays top airport
10 / 04 / 2014
BASED on reports from more than 1,105 airports worldwide, preliminary traffic results for 2013 collected by Airports Council International (ACI) show that the world’s largest air cargo hub continues to be Hong Kong International Airport (+2.3 per cent growth in 2013).
The Memphis home of FedEx [three per cent up) is second, followed by Shanghai (-0.3) in third.
South Korea’s Incheon (0.3) and Dubai (6.8) moved ahead of Anchorage (-1.7) to fourth and fifth positions.
Passenger traffic remained resilient in the face of the global uncertainties in 2013, but air cargo inched up only slightly by 0.7 per cent last year. “The volume of air cargo has remained at essentially the same levels over the last three years,” says an ACI statement.
