DHL forwarding doubles Brussels pharma facility

DHL Global Forwarding Belgium has more than doubled the size of its temperature controlled facilities at Brussels Airport on the back of growth in the segment.
The development sees the forwarder expand its GDP licensed temperature controlled area to 5,300 sq m from its previous 1,750 sq m.
It will offer a total of 2,700 pallet positions split over three temperature zones, the largest being for goods to be handled between +15°C to + 25°C degrees.
DHL Belgium physical operations director Charles De Vuyst said: “We have seen a growing demand for pharmaceutical goods and devices which previously were handled as general cargo but now demand a strict temperature handling.
“We needed to respond quickly. We are proud we managed to build this extension in only 3 months’ time meanwhile ensuring business continuity."
The facility also allows in-house screening through X-ray, ensuring cargo is secured without additional external handling. The extension is now under process of licensing by the official health authorities.
DHL Global Forwarding is IATA-CEIV certified, operates as Regulated Agent and has AEO/TAPA accreditations.
