JAPANESE healthcare company Otsuka has rolled out inventory planning software from supply chain specialist AGR to smooth out its stock control and sales processes – and cut out unnecessary costs.

The system manages fluctuating demand and stock levels on a daily basis – and provides real-time information for faster, improved decision-making.

“Otsuka was looking for a solution to manage what was a complex business environment in which three main product lines operated on different supply chain planning models, and sales affiliates in six countries entered their market intelligence data manually into the various systems,” an Otsuka statement points out.

The healthcare firm will use AGR’s system to calculate the exact quantity of tablets that need to be manufactured from its Japanese headquarters.

Otsuka’s consolidated sales were approximately US$13bn for fiscal year 2012.
