Denis Ilin, executive president, AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC), answers: 
"LOOKING BACK 10 years ago to today, [our] Customs [authority] is much better. It used to take 8-12 hours for import cargo to be cleared by Customs and then released to the client.
‘Now it takes about three hours and, for special cargo, such as perishables, which requires immediate handling, they are very proactive when it arrives.
‘One of the core concepts of our business model is our hub operation in Moscow, where we do 30-40 per cent of all transhipments ‘tail-to-tail’. ‘Customs are very helpful. They understand what we are trying to do –and why . ."
