Rhenus looks to grow in airfreight after IATA accreditation

Rhenus Logistics‘ French division has been awarded IATA cargo agent accreditation as it looks to expand its airfreight operation.
IATA Cargo Agents are able to contact the airlines directly for rates and cargo space availability, and book  shipments.
IATA accreditation provides agents with industry recognition of their financial and professional competence and airlines with a worldwide distribution network of approved agents to sell their product.
The company said it had experienced a recent surge in airfreight demand and the certification would support it in continuing to develop its global offer of overseas services.
"Rhenus expects this growth to continue into 2017 and is therefore planning to add supporting teams in strategically based locations in Rouen, Lyon and Marseille," the company said.
The company recently implemented a new operating system to manage air transport and employed a team in Strasbourg specifically to look after overseas business.
Christophe Barreau, overseas director at Rhenus Logistics, said: “Being IATA certified will allow us to grow our network in order to offer our existing customers a new transport service for export.
"We can offer a wider variety of transport and logistics services, for both import and export, for all classifications of goods including pharmaceutical, automotive, FMCG and hazardous loads.”
