TRACY is listening to GEFCO’s customers

European logistics provider GEFCO is pioneering TRACY, a voice-activated shipment tracking tool for customers using smart speaker technology and logistic software, Cargowise.
GEFCO’s freight forwarding division, which handled around 77,000 airfreight shipments in 2017, developed TRACY for customers requiring real-time monitoring of high-priority consignments.
Supply chain operator GEFCO, a finished vehicle logistics specialist, has already demonstrated the new technology to customers ahead of a planned launch.
The system employs Wisetech Global’s Cargowise logistics software through a “skill” on the smart speaker.
It enables customers to obtain key shipment information including the origin, destination, flight/ship number and expected/actual arrival via a simple voice command.
TRACY will supplement GEFCO’s traditional track and trace offering, such as GEFC@nnect, which provides traceability to customers via an online portal.
The tool has been developed to support businesses that require speed and assurance for time critical shipments. The software will undergo  further updates providing additional functionality, including potential connection with flight and marine tracking services
Anthony Gunn, chief executive of forwarding at GEFCO comments: “TRACY is the latest in a series of new technologies which GEFCO has recently integrated into its supply chain management as we lead the market on innovation.
“For freight forwarding – particularly our time-critical-solutions offering – where transparency and real-time monitoring are imperative, the new tool is set to play a major role and we are thrilled with the feedback we have received from customers to date.”
GEFCO has developed My Car Is There, a service enabling end-clients to manage the delivery of their new vehicles through a mobile app.
GEFCO Group is also launching an Innovation Factory with the aim of identifying innovative employee projects and providing the right resources to support their development and foster news ideas and creativity within the business.
