CARSTEN HERNIG, 39, is the new managing director of ULD outsource specialist Jettainer.
“He is not only a homegrown talent, but also an experienced international manager,” says Dr Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht, executive board member, operations, at Lufthansa Cargo.
Hernig’s career at the Lufthansa group of companies extends to 15 years. He initially worked in Singapore as manager of marketing control and capacity planning for the Asian-Pacific region.
In 2003 he was appointed sales manager in Russia and the CIS countries, before he was asked to manage the south China, Hong Kong and Taiwan regions.
Most recently, he held the position of regional director for south Asia, the Middle East and Pakistan, based in New Delhi, where he was responsible for station operations, sales and marketing in 19 countries with 29 offices in south Asia, the Gulf region as well as the Middle East.
At Jettainer, he takes over from Alexander Plumacher who is leaving voluntarily to face new challenges.
According to Rupprecht: “Under the leadership of Alexander Plumacher, the company positioned itself as a global provider of quality and also found worldwide acceptance in the market.
“Today, Jettainer represents the global brand for intelligent ULD management,” he adds.
