DB Schenker regroups in Hungary

GLOBAL logistics company DB Schenker Logistics is grouping its services in Hungary into a new corporate office at Budapest, Hungary.
The move to a new joint 30,000-sq m freight forwarding terminal will conclude integration of all corporate activities in Hungary so that, by the end of this year, all DB Schenker Logistics offices and facilities in the Budapest region will be consolidated at the new site.
“In future, land transport, air and ocean freight as well as contract logistics and trade fair forwarding will be located under one roof in the Hungarian capital,” says a statement.
The move is the conclusion of the gradual process, begun in Hungary in 2010, of integrating all freight forwarding areas into Schenker Budapest.
Previously, activities were partially managed in independent joint ventures with the Masped Group.
The new facility’s transhipment and logistics areas meet the strictest requirements for security according to TAPA and for hygiene according to HACCP.
The company also has the availability of its own special warehouse for hazardous goods.
A total of 400 employees will work at the new terminal in early 2015 when relocation is complete.
"The consolidation of all departments in our company – not just under corporate law but in a single location as well – will make it much easier for us to offer all services from a single source in the interest of our customers," says Árpád Vásárhelyi, chief executive of Schenker in Hungary.
The integration is intended to lay the groundwork for further growth on the Hungarian market.
“Our objective is to become the leading logistics service provider in Hungary," adds Sándor Barényi, who heads air and ocean freight as well as contract logistics in the country.
