AA steps up Irish cargo capacity

AMERICAN Airlines has increased its cargo capacity and frequency from Ireland, following the recent reinstatement of daily services from Dublin to Chicago. The carrier now has the same capacity as in the corresponding period of 2008, up from four flights per week during the winter.
AA’s Irish cargo GSSA, IAM, has welcomed the addition of the three flights. IAM’s Ian McCool, said: “Although the export market is down and capacity is not currently critical, we need to preserve AA’s position as the second largest direct carrier on the North Atlantic. In this respect, frequency is just as important as capacity to the local market.”
AA has the added advantage of being the first daily arrival in Chicago; flights depart Dublin at 10.30 daily, and arrive at 12.35, making possible local delivery and same day connections by air and truck to many other parts of the USA.
AA’s newly-appointed regional cargo sales manager, Northern Europe, Jennifer Smith, said: “Ireland is very important to us, particularly as it has a buoyant and growing pharmaceutical sector.”
American Airlines Cargo was voted ‘Best Carrier to North America’ in the 2009 Cargo Airline of the Year Awards held recently in London.
