ACI lands Hamilton cargo centre handling contract

ACI Air Cargo (ACI) has been named as the operator of Hamilton International Airport’s C$12m common-user air cargo centre.
ACI will be responsible for all cargo handling services within the cargo centre’s common-user section at the Canadian hub, including bonded, e-commerce and temperature controlled air cargo handling, cross docking and end of runway cargo services which allows companies to move critical items in time-sensitive situations.
ACI operates dual bonded facilities at the Canadian hubs of Toronto Pearson International Airport and Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport.
In March 2014, Cargojet Airways was announced as anchor tenant for the Hamilton cargo centre, occupying approximately half of the 77,000 sq ft facility. 
ACI will operate the other half of the facility under a common-use model. Hamilton handled over 75,000 tonnes of cargo in full year 2014, with an customer profile that included Cargojet, Purolator, Canada Post, DHL and UPS.
The new centre was funded through a joint partnership between the federal and Ontario governments, and TradePort International Corporation, with support from Hamilton’s municipal government.
