AerCap selects PFW for cargo loading system

AIRCRAFT- and engine-leasing company AerCap has chosen PFW Aerospace to design and manufacture the main deck cargo loading system (CLS) for its new A320 and A321 converted freighters.

AerCap is the launch customer for the passenger-to-freighter conversion programme with Airbus Freighter Conversion.

Prototype conversion will start next year, with PFW delivering the first CLS for installation at the end of 2011. Once installed, the first completed conversion will enter service in 2012.

“The A320F and A321F address the future growth of the air cargo market and will be a highly efficient freighter aircraft,” said Rupert Kaestel, vice-president sales and marketing of PFW Aerospace. “PFW is proud to deliver its new generation modular cargo loading system, which covers the loading flexibility the market needs today combined with significant fuel saving weight benefits.”

Lars Becker, chief executive officer of Airbus Freighter Conversion added: “The selection of the modern and versatile cargo loading system designed and manufactured by PFW marks another important milestone in the A320P2F freighter conversion programme. We are happy to have a CLS supplier on board this project, who provides a well-proven and reliable system for our market.”
