Africa: Jettainer starts managing ULDs for ECAir

Jettainer, the ULD management company, has begun supervising containers for Equatorial Congo Airlines (ECAir).
The Lufthansa subsidiary announced details of its entry into the African market late last year but has this month formally started work on the ECAir contract.
State-owned ECAir, located in Brazzaville, is outsourcing its ULD management after expanding its fleet to include several B767 widebody aircraft.
Jettainer will allocate, manage and maintain the first ULDs for the African carrier.
ECAir says that the Jettainer deal will help achieve an objective “to become the prime airline in the sub region of Africa”.
Fatima Beyina-Moussa, chief executive of ECAir, said: “We are certain that Jettainer will meet the challenge in our continued growth.
“ECAir will be operating a total of nine new destinations in Africa, a daily flight to Paris, Dubai and soon also to Beirut. All flights are operated from our hub in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.”
Carsten Hernig, chief executive of Jettainer, said: “Airlines on the course of expansion are ideal partners for us. The organic growth with existing partners is one of the mainstays at Jettainer.
“This leads to strong, valuable and lasting partnerships. We wish to continue our worldwide growth in Africa.”
