Air Canada in union agreements

AIR Canada has successfully made tentative agreements with cargo agents and baggage handlers, but talks with its pilots’ union to prevent a strike are still underway.

Agreements were met with The Canadian Airline Dispatchers Association, which represents the airline’s 74 flight dispatchers, all of which are based at the central operations control centre near Toronto Airport. The agreement is subject to ratification by the union membership and details would not be released until then.

The airline also struck harmony with the union representing its inflight crew schedulers and its largest union, the IANAW, representing cargo agents, baggage handlers and mechanics.

If talks break down with Air Canada Pilots Association, its 3,000 members will give 72-hours’ notice ahead of the planned walkout on 17 February.
