Air France-KLM Announce Board Decisions

ON Thursday 25 September, the boards of directors of Air France-KLM and Air France, duly noted Jean-Cyril Spinetta’s wish to separate the posts of chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer.

Consequently as from 1 January, 2009, Jean-Cyril Spinetta (pictured), will remain in his position as chairman of the boards of directors of Air France-KLM and Air France, but will cease to exercise the duties of chief executive officer of Air France-KLM and Air France.

“After 11 years as chief executive of Air France, and then Air France-KLM, I felt it necessary to propose an internal solution that would guarantee continuity of governance, in view of the difficult economic climate facing us. This way we will protect the group’s interests, while abiding by the principles which have underpinned its constitution and will remain relevant going forward.”

It is in this spirit that, in accordance with the proposal by the appointments committee, Pierre-Henri Gourgeon has been appointed chief executive officer of Air France-KLM, by the board of directors of Air France-KLM as from 1 January, 2009.

Furthermore, Pierre-Henri Gourgeon has been appointed chief executive officer of Air France by the board of directors of Air France as from the same date.
