Airbus Boeing deliver first of orders

LAST Friday, Airbus delivered the first of eight A330-300s to Finnair, while Boeing also delivered the first of eight 777 freighters to Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) and Emirates SkyCargo.
“The acquisition of these new airplanes will improve Finnair’s profitability and environmental efficiency significantly,” said Finnair’s deputy chief executive officer Lasse Heinonen. “In particular, the new Airbus long-haul aircraft consume 20 per cent less fuel than the MD-11 they will replace.”
Finnair will use the A330-300 on its Helsinki to New York route.
Meanwhile, Marty Bentrott, vice president of sales for Boeing in the Middle East and Africa, said: “Today marks a milestone in our relationship with two key customers based in Dubai.
“The unmatched efficiency and reliability of the 777 passenger models have made it the premier twin-aisle choice for our Middle East customers – so too, will the 777 freighter enhance airfreight delivery to and from the region at the best margins achievable.”
