Airbus signs Latin American freighter first

COLOMBIA’s Avianca has signed four A330-200 freighter aircraft to be operated by its cargo subsidiary Tampa.
Avianca is the first operator to receive the A330-200F in Latin America. The freighters will replace Tampa’s current cargo fleet and play a role in expanding the carrier’s international cargo business.
“This new-generation, mid-size freighter can profitably serve both hot and high destinations and longer transcontinental flights without sacrificing payload,” John Leahy, Airbus chief operating officer customers, said.
The A330-200F, which has just celebrated its first year of efficient operation, can carry up to 70 tonnes of payload and offer a range of up to 4,000 nautical miles. Eight A330-200Fs are now flying with four operators in the Middle East, Europe and Asia. To date, 61 freighter aircraft have been ordered by 10 customers.
