ANA working on Transpacific JV with United

All Nippon Airways (ANA) is seeking permission to form a transpacific cargo joint venture (JV) with its Star Alliance partner United Airlines.
ANA filed its antitrust application to the Japanese transport ministry MLIT on Friday, beginning a regulatory process both in Japan and the US that, should it receive clearance, would allow the two carriers to “jointly manage transpacific air cargo business activities including scheduling, pricing and sales.”
ANA’s stock market announcement said that the JV would “allow the carriers to offer customers a greater selection of routings and cargo space along with a wider range of service options,” creating “a more efficient and comprehensive” network of transpacific services.
ANA’s proposed move follows on rapidly from their confirmation in September of a joint venture on Japan-Europe cargo routes with fellow Star Alliance partners Lufthansa, Swiss International and Austrian Airlines.
