April cargo boost for Heathrow

CARGO volumes at London’s Heathrow Airport rose 4.4 per cent in April over prior year period to 120,194 tonnes, with air freight traffic increasing 26.8 per cent to China, 25.1 per cent to Mexico and 15.8 per cent to Russia.
Latest figures from Heathrow Airport Holdings show a 3.2 per cent increase for the first four months of 2014 at the primary UK air freight hub to 475,080 tonnes.
Heathrow was the 17th largest global cargo hub in 2013, handling just over 1.5m tonnes, according to statistics from ACI.
