Avianca and Taca start joint venture

THE owners of Colombia’s Avianca and El Salvador’s Taca have finalised a deal to form a joint venture: Aviance-Taca.
Synergy Aerospace will own 67 per cent and Kingsland Holding 33 per cent of the new company, which will be based in the Bahamas.
The Taca group includes: Taca International, Lacsa, Taca Peru, Aviateca, Sansa, La Costena, Aeroperlas and Islena airlines.
Avianca includes: Avianca, Sam and Tampa, as well as the purchase option that Grupo Synergy has of Aerogal in Ecuador and Oceanair in Brazil.
The two companies jointly generate annual revenues of nearly US$3 billion and serve more than 100 destinations worldwide, including 75 cities in Latin America. They currently operate a fleet of 129 aircraft, primarily A320s.
