B777 freighter training contract signed

AEROLOGIC GmbH has concluded a contract with Lufthansa Flight Training GmbH on the simulator training of its pilots. The contract provides for Lufthansa Flight Training to install a Boeing 777 simulator in Berlin in July 2009. AeroLogic will initially use the simulator for five years for type ratings as well as the training which its pilots must go through twice a year, in each case for two days, in order to retain their pilot’s licences.

For the type ratings, pilots acquire the required licence for a specific aircraft model, in this case the Boeing 777-200F.

“By already firmly reserving the necessary capacities to satisfy this training requirement well in advance, we are giving AeroLogic maximum planning security,” said Frank Berweger, vice-president sales and marketing at Lufthansa Flight Training. “A training programme tailored precisely to the requirements of AeroLogic, as well as the high technical reliability of the LFT simulators of more than 99 per cent, thereby ensure optimal efficiency in pilot training.”

Dr Thomas Papke, as one of the two AeroLogic managing directors responsible for fight operations and the training of crews, said: “Berlin can be reached very quickly from our home airport of Leipzig/Halle. This favourable location has a positive effect on our crew productivity. Moreover, we also get precisely those training times in the simulator requested by us. Lufthansa Flight training has put together the best overall package for us.”

By 2012, AeroLogic will put 11 brand-new Boeing 777-200Fs into operation.
