Cargo liability limits standardised

IATA has standardised cargo liability limits. With regulatory approval and with effect from 1 July, the Air Waybill (AWB) Conditions of Contract (IATA Resolution 600b) have been brought into alignment with the application of the Montreal Convention liability limit for all air cargo across all routes.
The change is intended to improve efficiency for shippers and forwarders. It should increase the certainty and accuracy of claims handling and service determination.
The single global standard will also eliminate the uncertainty that existed conversions from non-existing currencies, such as French gold francs, created and removes the confusion of having multiple regimes, especially where existing conventions were out-of-date or non-existent.
