AIR Cargo News reports on new cargo carrier routes around the world.
Saudi Cargo will extend the frequency of its MD 11F service from three times a week from Nairobi to Schiphol to five in April.
The ramp-up comes down to the high demand for the transport of flowers. The freighters return from Amsterdam via Jeddah to Riyadh twice, and three times a week via Jeddah to Johannesburg. While Saudi Cargo aims to do more flights to Schiphol, this will not be possible for the moment because all landing rights are used.
In early March, MASkargo launched two flights a week from Bangkok to Frankfurt in a move to tap into the Thai market, where the automotive and electronics industries are driving a strong demand for shipments. The company plans to add four Airbus A330 aircraft with 70 tonnes of load capacity each to its air cargo fleet. The first aircraft will be delivered in September and the second in April 2012.
Qatar Airways (pictured) is set to make its debut in Canada with the launch of three scheduled freighter flights a week to Montreal, effective 29 June.
