Cargolux expands Latin America B747-8 freighter network

INCREASED demand in Latin America has induced Cargolux to expand its network of B747-8 freighter flights to Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires.
The additional rotation will attract general cargo, consumer goods, automotive cargo and spare parts into Argentina.
Return flights are expected to carry mainly perishables, automotive parts and live animals, such as horses.
The all-cargo airline also notes that there are increasing exports out of Ecuador and Colombia, as well as a requirement for additional capacity from Brazil in combination with the service to Argentina.
IATA reported a 3.9 per cent year-on-year growth of airfreight volumes for September, on the back of strong growth in Latin American economies in recent months.
The region saw the strongest trade increase this year, supporting continued expansion in airfreight demand, says a Cargolux spokesperson.
