Cargolux starts work on state-of-the-art HQ

Cargolux Airlines has started work on a new headquarters building at its Luxembourg airport base.
It is located in the Sandweiler district adjacent to the carrier’s maintenance hangar, to which it is connected by a glass bridge. The airline’s training organisation, including its two Boeing 747 simulators, will also be located there.
Cargolux’s 1,400 staff are currently spread over several locations and the new building will bring them all together under one roof.
Eye-catching architectural features include the glass wall of the training facilities making the simulators visible to the public, as well as the floating top floors which house the conference and meeting centre and cafeteria.
The new building will be constructed and owned by lux-Airport, the management company of Luxembourg Airport and Cargolux has committed to a long-term lease contract.
The first earthworks are set to begin at the end of 2017 and Cargolux expects to move into the building in early 2020.
