CFI targets Air France-KLM for pricefixing

DESPITE Air France-KLM arranging an out-of-court settlement of US$87 million to the US for alleged pricefixing of airfreight, scavengers have started to circle the wounded Franco-Dutch carrier group in Europe.

Peter Koutsoukis, managing director of Claims Funding International, a European litigation funding company that specifically targets cartel actions, says it is claiming €335 million against Air France-KLM ‘on behalf of hundreds of European companies’.

“The amount of €335 million is 10 per cent of the total amount of €3.35 billion my clients have paid to the cartel airlines in the 2000 to 2006 period for their shipments as we believe the illegal overcharge was at least 10 per cent and we shall also be claiming interest,” Koutsoukis explained.

“We sent a letter of demand to Air France-KLM Monday and asked them to respond within 14 days. If they do not respond in a satisfying way, we will go to court,” he said.

Air France-KLM says it has not received the letter.
