Changi’s air cargo slides

CHANGI AIRPORT’S air cargo dipped by 1.3 per cent (year-on-year) in March.
The facility handled 169,800 tonnes of airfreight last month and a total 446,900 tonnes in the first quarter of 2014.
More than 100 airlines operate at Changi, connecting Singapore to 280 cities in some 60 countries and territories worldwide.
Uzbekistan Airways is the latest carrier to launch a new service at the airport.
On April 4, the company began operating a twice-weekly service between Tashkent and Singapore – the country’s first direct air link to Central Asia, says a statement.
Meanwhile, Singapore Airlines has added a third daily service to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. This brings the airline’s total number of daily flights to Tokyo (Haneda and Narita) to five.
Changi Airport Group has implemented a number of incentives for freighter airlines, such as reduced landing fees and rents.
