China Southern Airlines adds Vienna to B777-200 Frankfurt freighter

GUANGZHOU-BASED China Southern Airlines has added Vienna to its five-times-a-week B777-200 Frankfurt freighter services.
With the added stopover at Vienna, China Southern is now providing 450 tonnes freighter capacity a week on the route.
The Chinese carrier launched Guangzhou-Frankfurt-Guangzhou direct flights in July 2013.
This enlarged service becomes the first one from southern China to central and eastern Europe, with exports to Austria including garments, household decorations and electronics coming from Pearl River Delta, Xiamen and south-east Asia.
The China and Germany route is considered a golden one for the Sino-European airfreight market.
“The majority of import and export cargo between China and Germany is machinery, electrical appliances and precision instrument, which are high yield products and suitable for air transportation,” says a China Southern statement.
Through a now well-developed truck network, cargo is transferred from Frankfurt to 96 cities in 25 European countries including Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, and the UK.
China Southern Cargo, a member of the SkyTeam Cargo airline alliance, possesses eight B777-200Fs. Four more freighters be delivered in 2015.
