Cost reduction drives revenues

AIR France-KLM recorded an operating income of €311 million (+23.4 per cent) for Q3 2007-08.
Cargo saw a slight improvement, total revenues progressed 3.9 per cent after a negative currency effect of 2.4 per cent to €5.98 billion. Operating costs rose by 3.0 per cent to €5.67 billion.
Cargo activity saw a moderate increase during the third quarter. Traffic was up 2.7 per cent with capacity up by 1.6 per cent, leading to a 0.7 point rise in load factor to 70.5 per cent. The group carried 395,6000 tonnes (+2.2 per cent).
On a constant currency basis, unit revenue per tonne kilometre (RRTK) progressed by 3.8 per cent and unit revenue per available tonne kilometre (RATK) by 4.8 per cent. Unit cost per ATK fell by 0.8 per cent on a constant currency and fuel price basis.
