GLOBAL logistics company DB Schenker is building a new US$44million logistics centre at Pfungen near Zurich, Switzerland.

Scheduled to open in late March 2014, it will shorten cross-docking distances between land transport and airfreight and offer value-added logistics services such as picking, customs clearance, production supply and warehouse logistics.

"We are investing over 40 million Swiss francs, our biggest investment ever in Swiss infrastructure for our customers," says Jörg Eggenberger, chief executive of Schenker in Switzerland.

"Most importantly, we will be able to do an even better job of integrating our customers' goods into our global systems," he adds.
