Deccan 360 puts Dubai at the heart of its strategy

FOUNDER of Deccan 360, India’s newest freight airline and former owner of Air Deccan, GR Gopinath (right) has emphasised that the success of the India-Dubai trade route is vital to the long-term prospects of his new operation.

Speaking at a recent press conference, Gopinath said that the recent launch of Deccan 360s flights, connecting Delhi and Chennai to Dubai, helped connect Asian business hubs with the UAE. He added that he was convinced that Deccan 360 was “geared up to corner a sizeable share of freight movement on this route”. According to Gopinath, the India-Dubai trade route is one of the busiest in the world with a constant flow of goods and precious commodities between the two regions.

Having established Air Deccan in 2003 as a pioneering Indian low cost carrier, he subsequently sold the carrier to Kingfisher Airlines, before commencing his new cargo project.

Deccan 360 says it intends to operate express, long haul and general freight services across multiple industry verticals such as automotive spare parts, textiles, pharmaceuticals, machinery and heavy equipment. The airline has acquired an A310 freighter and has placed it into service on the Delhi-Mumbai-Chennai-Hong Kong-Dubai route.
