Emirates SkyCargo to start Brussels service

EMIRATES SkyCargo is to launch a new daily B777 belly cargo service to Brussels, Belgium, in September.
It will be the UAE carrier’s 147th destination, closely following the September launch of services to Oslo, Norway.
“As the centre of European politics and a hub of economic activity, Brussels is already an important offline market for Emirates,” notes Sir Tim Clark, the airline’s president
“Our research has shown that there is high demand for this route from across our network, from both the business and public sector as well as from leisure travellers. Belgium operates an open and private enterprise-based economy and we expect this new service to further boost bilateral trade and commerce between the UAE and Belgium, which currently sits at around €4 billion per year,” he adds.
Ranked as one of the world’s top-20 trading nations, Belgium is a key cargo hub with exports accounting for a significant percentage of the country’s GDP.
Key export commodities, which Emirates SkyCargo expects to transport, include pharmaceuticals, automotive spare parts, chocolates, machinery and equipment and electronics. Imported airfreight is also expected to be considerable.
