Etihad expands in July

ETIHAD Crystal Cargo has had a busy month with 777F launch operations, a lease extension with World Airways and the start of cargo services to Kazakhstan.

On 28 July a Crystal Cargo A330-200F will fly from Abu Dhabi (UAE) to Almaty (Kazakhstan) with a payload of 59 metric tonnes on the route.

“Our operations to Almaty will reinforce Etihad’s position in the Kazakh market, adding to our three weekly passenger services between Abu Dhabi and Almaty. We look forward to strengthening the trade ties between the UAE and Kazakhstan through this new cargo route,” Roy Kinnear, senior vice-president of Etihad Crystal Cargo, said.

Crystal Cargo has also signed a multi-year contract extension with World Airways (part of Global Aviation Holdings) to provide two MD-11 cargo aircraft operating on scheduled routes to Europe, Asia and Africa.

On 10 July Etihad launched its new 777 freighter operations from Abu Dhabi to Hahn (Germany). Boeing delivered the 777 freighter to Crystal Cargo on 23 June. It marks the airline’s first Boeing freighter, joining its seven 777-300ERs.
