Etihad launches service for cool customers

Etihad Cargo has unveiled a TempCheck solution for sensitive pharmaceutical and healthcare products, including blood plasma, pills, medicines and anaesthetics.
The UAE-based carrier has already upgraded the temperature-controlled storage facilities at its Abu Dhabi hub, and refurbished its existing cool rooms to meet pharmaceutical-safe specifications, but new purpose-built facilities are scheduled to come into operation before summer 2015.
The service includes a range of active temperature-controlled ULDs available for lease, temperature-controlled aircraft cargo holds, pre-cooled thermo blankets and priority ground handling with a maximum 40-minute transfer time between the cool facility and aircraft.
Etihad’s vice president for cargo, David Kerr, said: “We have been working closely with our pharmaceutical customers in developing this specialised solution, which has been designed to ensure that their temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products are protected at every stage of the journey, and reach their final destination in perfect condition.”
