EVA Air resumes freighter flights from Taipei to Vienna

TAIWAN’S EVA Air Cargo reintroduced a freighter service between Taipei and Vienna.
From 18 March the carrier will operate a 747 freighter every Thursday and Sunday, landing at Vienna at 11.10 following a stop in Delhi.
After two hours for unloading and re-loading the freighter will depart at 13:10 for the return flight to Taipei via Brussels and Delhi.
This will provide an additional air cargo capacity of 18 to 30 metric tonnes twice a week. Compared to the current three passenger flights per week with a total of 24 to 36 tons of freight capacity, this represents a doubling of the weekly export availability.
K W Nieh, spokesman of EVA Air, says: “The main reason for the decision to re-launch freighter flights to Vienna was the rising demand in cargo business beginning with the fourth quarter of 2009 and the recovering worldwide economic situation.
“Demand from the region of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) is particularly promising and meeting this high demand with extra capacity is our main target for the next months.
"With the new freighter flights we want to enhance our market share in the CEE Region and meet the opportunity of further approaching the CEE market.”
