Frankfurt cargo volumes still ascending

Cargo continued to increase at Frankfurt Airport, said operating company Fraport in its latest figures for July.
Freight and airmail was up 4.2% to 188,009 tonnes in the month, while for the year to date it was up 4.7% to just over 1.28m tonnes.
Fraport added that accumulated maximum take-off weights surpassed the previous July record achieved in 2015, by 15,000 tonnes to 2.8 million tonnes, an increase of 1.4% year-on-year.
At other airports in the Fraport Group, cargo at Lima, Peru, was down 3% in July to 23,648 tonnes and -0.4% for the year to date, to 146,329 tonnes. At Burgas in Bulgaria, cargo increased by over 100% to 2,244 tonnes July while the year to date figure was up 22.5%, to 8,959 tonnes.
At Hanover, a Fraport equity consolidated airport, July cargo was down 34.8% to 915 tonnes while for the year to date it was 11.8% lower, at 9,779 tonnes.
Cargo at Xi’an, China – also an equity consolidated airport – it was up 21.5% to 20,852 tonnes for the month, and 12.5% for the year to date (143,365 tonnes).
