Frankfurt launches new cargo community

KEY businesses at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) have joined forces to strengthen the facility’s position as a major global air cargo hub.
Newly-formed Air Cargo Community Frankfurt (ACCF) will represent and promote the interests of companies, optimise logistics processes and function as the single voice for the industry, says a statement.
ACCF, representing airlines, handling agents, forwarders and other service providers, hopes to develop FRA as the most advanced air cargo hub in Europe by 2020, it adds.
Agility Logistics, Air Canada Cargo, DAKOSY, Emirates SkyCargo, Lufthansa Cargo (LH Cargo) and LUG aircargo handling are among the members.
Dr Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht, head of operations at LH Cargo, has been elected chairman of the board, whilst Anke Giesen, executive board member and executive director, ground handling at FRA, is the new deputy chairwoman.
“The strength of our association lies in the fact that we encompass the entire air cargo industry in our ranks, making us a powerful advocate for the industry,” observes Rupprecht.
“A decisive factor for the constructive cooperation of the members is that we are combining our expertise and ensuring its targeted use for the benefit of all members."
Giesen adds: “We intend to assert ourselves against the competition and to expand our position as Europe’s leading cargo airport.”
